“Skeem Saam Actress, Innocent Sadiki (Sthoko), Ascends to the Role of Senior Pastor in Her Church
In the world of churches, while women often serve as the backbone, senior leadership positions have traditionally been dominated by men. However, a refreshing change has arrived at Church By The Valley, as actress and preacher Innocent Sadiki takes the helm of her own congregation, starting from September 3rd.
Both she and her husband, who is also a preacher, joyfully announced that Innocent would assume the role of senior pastor at one of the church’s newly established branches, following her recent appointment.
In a conversation with TshisaLIVE,
Innocent revealed that while she had always felt the calling to lead, her promotion caught her by surprise. She shared, “Answering this question is challenging because I have no doubt that God has called me, but leading a church feels different. This is why I organize the annual conference ‘Beauty and the Blessed,’ to engage women in thought-provoking conversations aimed at shifting mindsets and unveiling new approaches to address the societal challenges faced by women in our nation today.”
Innocent draws inspiration from the Bible,
particularly from Matthew 28:19-20, where she cited, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Sharing her vision, Innocent envisions a church under her leadership characterized by order and a strong sense of community. She explained, “I’m inherently structured, so I aim to create a church known for its organization and, most importantly, a sense of community. A place for worship and praise, a holistic spiritual wellness center that caters to all needs. I envision God taking us beyond the confines of a single church; I see a global movement. The vision surpasses the individual or the church; if we remain humble, God will fulfill His plans.”
When asked if this added responsibility would reduce her acting career, Innocent confidently stated that she would successfully manage both roles. She remarked, “God’s calling took me by surprise. When I offered myself for His service, I didn’t anticipate it would lead to this. However, I comprehend the mission very well. I firmly believe that I’m on this earth for a deeper purpose, and my life is guided by His hands. Wherever He leads me, I will follow.”
Innocent, renowned for her role as Sthoko in Skeem Saam,
remains undaunted by assuming the role of senior preacher, traditionally held by men. She asserted, “While it is a prevailing reality, it doesn’t trouble me in the least. I know that before God called me, He had equipped me. I am also an advocate for women’s empowerment, so this resonates deeply with me. This is an opportunity for me to demonstrate that our God can empower women greatly within the church. I will never diminish myself for anything or anyone.”
