Renowned South African gospel artist Hlengiwe Mhlaba has announced a temporary pause in her music career due to an unfortunate incident that occurred three weeks ago. As previously reported, the 48-year-old artist underwent a minor back surgery, but it has now come to light that she will undergo a complete hip replacement procedure at a public hospital in Durban.
She has recently relocated to Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital from a private healthcare facility to prepare for the upcoming surgery.
A reliable source close to the artist revealed that Hlengiwe will be taking a two-year break to fully recover from her injuries.
“Hlengiwe experienced a fall that resulted in significant hip damage, necessitating urgent surgery. While we cannot definitively pinpoint the cause of the extensive damage, the fall appears to be the primary factor,” stated the source.
Hlengiwe’s manager, Thobile Ndlovu, confirmed her improving condition, saying, “We are pleased to report that she is progressing well, and the outlook is positive. We kindly request her devoted fans and the media to respect her need for privacy as she embarks on this healing journey.”
